For those who don’t play Japanese Weiss Schwarz there is something called, Anti-healing, Anti-burning, and Anti-salvaging. Basically a very annoying meta that doesn’t allow you to do anything.
There are of course different kinds but I wanted to focus on the anti-healing cards that go to memory. The current titles that have this Memory anti-heal card(s) are Kantai Collection, Kill la Kill, Vivid Red Operation, and Suisei no Gargantia. Out the 4 series I believe that Gargantia has the best one because of it’s ability to search out a card from deck. Because I think it is the best one let’s use it as an example.
[Auto] Recollection If this card is in Memory, when either player’s Clock is moved to the Waiting Room due to an effect of a card of its owner’s, that player may put the top 2 cards in their Stock in the Waiting Room. If not, that player puts the top card of the Library in Clock.
[Auto] [(1) Discard a card from hand to Waiting Room, put this card in memory.] When this card is reversed during battle, you may pay the cost. If you do, you can search your deck for one <Letter> or <Pilot> character and reveal it, put it into your hand, and shuffle your Library.
All of the memory Anti-heal cards should have the same text as the first effect if not similar.
The main purpose of anti-heal is to screw your opponent who do run cards that heal. So basically, your deck which contains anti-heal should not have any cards that heal in it. Well, of course if it is a really good card you put a copy or 2 in but not more than that.
The anti-heal Memory cards are usually always put into Memory early in the game because they are level 0 cards. So, if the card is on the field at level 0 expect it to go to memory. Of course this can be stacked. Meaning, you can have multiple copies in memory and the effect multiplies. Once the card is in Memory there is nothing you can do about it. Even the player that used it can’t do anything to take it out of Memory.
So, I was thinking. What if there was a card that allows you to get rid of cards in Memory?
In The iDOLM@STER 2, there is a card called BK Maniac.
Choose 1 of your Characters. That Character gains +3000 Power for the turn.
You may put the top card of your Library into your Clock. If you do, choose 1 of your <Music> Characters in your Waiting Room and return it to your hand.
Send this card to Memory.
This is currently the only card that can come out Memory in my knowledge. (If there are more go ahead and comment down below). How do you get this out of Memory? By using the Level 3 Hibiki’s effect.
[Auto] When this card is placed from hand to the Stage, you may put the top card of your Clock in your Waiting Room.
[Act] [(1) Put a “BK MANIAC” from your Memory to the Waiting Room] Choose 1 <Music> Character in your Waiting Room and return it to your hand.
Once you re-draw BK MANIAC you can use it again. Basically, what I want to say is that it would be awesome to see some cards that allow you to play around with cards in Memory.
For example, Sword Art Online 2 Trail Deck and Booster Box was announced for a Fall 2014 release and it will be based off of the Gun Gale Online ark.
I thought this might be a good opportunity to see something that targets cards in Memory. Why? The main heroine of the Gun Gale Online ark, Sinon is a character who uses a sniper rifle. I was thinking, what if she gets a card with an effect that targets a card in Memory and sends it to the Waiting Room? I mean it would make sense if she got an effect like that because snipers are suppose to kill their target from far places. Of course the effect won’t be for free. There will be a condition such as pay 2 stock, ditch a card from hand to Waiting Room, Climax Combo, etc.
I mean, the effect of targeting a back-row is more likely to happen for a Sinon card but I really do think it would be cool to see a card that targets cards in Memory.
Kill la Kill will be the first set that will have Anti-Heal for the English-Meta so it will be very interesting how English players will handle the new meta.
